Question…

Image
I’ve been pondering some different things this week, seems my brain has a process it insists on me being present with. So, even though I’m not going to splurge my thinking yet {because it’d probably make me sound wacko right now!} I thought I’d put some questions out there and see what others think… 1. Have you ever had to relocate and start from the very beginning in a brand new area? By that I mean, rebuild a home, work/business, friends, schools, life…the whole works? 2. What was the hardest thing you found to rebuild? 3. Are you a get up and do it kind of  person or a ponder it then decide cautiously person? 4. When your mojo has got up and gone, how do you reclaim it? What tricks do you use? I guess these are some of the things I’m obviously pondering and to a degree struggling with, but I know it will all sort itself out and settle down but as I insist on my humanness I know I have to work throu...

Handmade Pinwheel

Image
When I saw this pinwheel tutorial on Miss Mustard Seeds blog I about skipped for joy! Not only because I could play with them for hours {don’t judge!} but I remember the Dick and Jane books {as well as Janet and John!} and I loved the idea. Guess what we’ll be doing this weekend? Oh, don’t forget to go check out the full tutorial!

Canvas to Headboard/Noticeboard

Image
Working on some projects a couple of weeks ago I wanted something for the head of Charley’s bed…but with little income and lots of ideas I came up with something that he now loves! From this: With just a can of blue spray paint it became this: Added 3 hooks down the side, a couple of certificates and one happy little boy loves his new bed head! Cost: £0

Losing weight

Image
A couple of years ago I had to go on medication for a stomach complaint, the side effects were migraines and weight gain, well they are the ones that affected me. After the course finished and my issue settled I was left with extra, unwanted poundage. Being the other side of 40 means unless I become a workout freak I have to work extra hard to lose it again. But I’m a lazy a$$ when it comes to working out, yeah I’ve given a few workouts a go, the best one being Jillian Michaels . However, now add in a knee injury that isn’t healing and you have a physical oxymoron!! See the beagle cheeks going on there?   I’ve never really had a weight problem, I’ve been lucky in that way, though saying that, it took my marriage breaking down to loose the weight a year after having Charley! I do not recommend the divorce diet! Losing 2 and a half stone in 6 weeks is not the way to go, but darn I looked good!!   Being 5’2” doesn’t do me many favours, having a small frame but bein...

Simple storage idea

Image
A couple of weeks ago I decided to try out an idea I had for Charley’s room. I was so fed up of hearing his groans when a lego kit got knocked by his friend or stepped on by me him when he’d spent hours and hours building it. Lego is his life. So off I went to armour up with the required bits. *Note! I have since replaced that narrow shelf with a proper sized one…and he’s since filled that very shelf with over 12 constructions!* I decided on a pine effect curtain pole {painted in glow in the dark paint which looks rather cool at night} the baton is added support but also as I chose a longer length I was able to add some hooks for his other bits {it’s now filled with key rings, ds cases and other stuff} The S hooks and flexi tubs are ideal for not only his odd bits of lego but for his teddies and other stuff {he’s since added 3 more tubs since this pic, how slack am I to not photo it?!!} Simple white medium sized hooks are effective enough, nothing ...

Freehand animal print walls

Image
Kirsten loves animal print, specifically leopard print. She has it on everything from cups, phone cases, bedding, t-shirts, uggies and a whole lot more so it was no real surprise when I asked her to begin designing out her bedroom that this was the theme. As the house is just a few months old we need to wait a year before we can actually decorate {the foundations are settling and that nearly always means cracks that will need to be repaired} so she came up with the idea for a stencilled print border, I went in search of something but not really sure of what and guess what? I found the perfect tutorial that Kirsten I will easily be able to do. I am totally not an artistic person with this sorta thing! So, as it’s such a great and simple instruction I figured it’s only fair to name and share the method. If you click on either of the photos you can go right to the full tutorial. The nice thing with this project is you only need...

Lakeland Cupcake Maker

Image
Kirsten had a Lakeland cupcake maker off my mom for Christmas and as yet I have used it more times than I should have! Now I think I should get my own…really. Cute design. I like cute Simply add your cases, then your mix and close the top After 10-12 minutes you get to decorate them. Here I used a fruit variety which was a perfect blend. But then the neighbours found out about them and put in an order!

Free storage?

I can’t remember {or find} any post that shows this idea from when we were living in temporary accommodation last year…so I figured I’d share them {again probably!} ...

Lets get colourful!

Wow, I really did have a good blog break didn’t I? It wasn’t intentional, just so many things going on that I have to literally stop and pull back now and again, I no longer wish to have a life that causes me to have an over loaded mind and an over flowing calendar. Family first then my home then the business. I guess I am very fortunate in being able to prioritise in that way but after 8 months of being homeless last year you learn a lot about yourself and you soon find a perspective in life that can be liberating. So while I’ve been absent from here I have been very present in diy projects, sewing projects, gardening and other stuff…bit by bit I will start sharing…well soon as Kirsten gets home with her camera…mine has died! Today though I want to share this with you….I totally love the idea… Click on the photo to visit My Pigeon Pair blog…you will be glad you did! Let me know what you do to keep your kids entertained.
