Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Image
I still cannot believe so much time has gone by since I last posted here. What is also amazing is all the good and not so good things that have happened in a few short weeks too! The biggest and best news I have is my youngest child, my lil dude was finally baptised into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints! He's so badly wanted this for a few years now but its customary to do so when a child turns 8, however with one hiccup after another it wasn't meant to happen so when one of the sisters popped by with the sister missionaries they were determined to make it happen. Belated Halloween photo but good grief he was awesome in his self made part! Photos will come shortly {computers off to have a make over today cos usb/s and other bits don't work} but it was a really awesome day with one happy little man hugging me oh so tightly come bedtime thanking me for making it happen. I really can't take the credit for it. I'm so proud of my doodlebug I can b...

10 fun & simple crafts for halloween

Image
Last year was the only year I've really liked Halloween and that's because Charley got into it and wanted to do something slightly ever so scary but even though it rained it still turned out to be a great evening round here. This year I'm adding to our Halloween goodies and was looking for some ideas, {these are not credited to the rightful owners but I'm happy to if anyone knows whose they are} So lets begin....  1. Any old jar with what I assume to be a small candle inside. Raid your first aid kit for bandages {99p shop will also have some I'm sure. Add a couple of googly eyes and off you go. I'd be inclined to add some wire round the top to form a handle. Naturally not suitable for young kids. 2. Sausage mummies. If they make it to the table I congratulate you! 3. A collection of cakes, sweets and cake pops. Who wouldn't love these? 4. Yep I'm craving the sweet stuff this year. 5. I bought a baby pumpkin just for this purpo...

Plans. Planner. Planning. Not yet Planned though!

Image
I love to plan things out, look at the detail and see how I can personalise it and/or make it easier. This means I often spend too much time on the little things and not enough on the relative things which also means that I then end up being a headless chicken right up to the last minute. But I'm a new person. Ok, not quite. But I have a plan... You know how every year we say 'next Christmas I'm going to be so organised it won't know what's hit it?' Yeah, I fall for it too. I plan it out, month by month, adding birthdays and other dates in along the way then bang! One hurdle and I'm right on my tushy wonderin' what the heck happened. But then there was light! Thanks to the sometimes debilitating arthritis I have to pace myself, especially through flare ups that can happen for a couple of days {who am I kidding, the shortest one I've had has been 8 days!} up to a few weeks so as part of my psychological acceptance I have decided to use that t...

Handmade Halloween

Image
I have a confession. I didn’t make all of the items I said I was going to make. I was full of good intentions but I kinda forgot some of the ingredients and I don’t shop on a Sunday. So we went ahead anyway with what we had, we made some craft stuff, went trick or treating and had plenty of fun as it were. The rest of this post is in pics, just cos it speaks for itself :)   I think after all the cakes, marshmallows, sweets and other stuff that did manage to get to the table my dentist is guaranteed a holiday in Bali….on us!!

Toilet Roll Tube for Straws!

Image
Share this post : Sometimes we gotta do just what we gotta do, right? If you read my personal blog you will know that I have had a big request off a small boy for a Halloween party, of sorts. And I aim to please. So, just for fun, here is a quick, desperate idea I came up with to store the straws on the table: A toilet paper tube covered in plain black sheer ribbon with a simple cut out on it.  I look at it and I have to chuckle. It’s so cheap n tacky but it actually works! Strange!

Last minute Halloween Project

Image
Share this post : Ok, to know why I am making a Halloween project the day before the day itself, just hop over to here and read for yourself, just stops me repeating myself! ;) Each time I look around my last minute Halloween decor I can’t help but smile at this silly little poem that I printed and framed so I figured I’d share. The frame is so basic, just the glass, back board and clips which cost a mere 63p from Asda and the bats were printed from a site that I can’t think of. The ribbon at the top is just adhered on top of the glass for effect. In all it took about 5 minutes to do this, but I love it. What catches  your eye this Halloween?
