From the kitchen table….

Image
Share this post : So the race is on to get Christmas going with organisation, efficiency and ease. Good luck with that, let me know how you get along!! Each day through December I am going to update you all with what I am doing each day, now this will be down to earth, honest to goodness truthfulness to the core extent. If all it does is make  you feel better about your list then job done, but I have to hope that it will give me the kick in the behind to get me doing what needs to be done! Logic? Who knows!! I mean, if I have to do some of my chores then I’m sure you will survive feeling my pain, right?!! Just to get things going…here is what my kitchen table looks like right now, this very minute (ok a few minutes after) so you can set the scene…you will just have to imagine me sat there, fully dressed with my dressing gown on, cos well that's just what I wear round the house! {can ...

Time limit

I have received a few emails to see that I am ok after not posting for a while now….thank you! I am just great, thank you. However, just now there is so much going on with Charley’s school (he volunteered me to do a lot there, but I don’t mind i am actually loving the whole shabang of their Christmas activities). I have a big Christmas party in the process of coming together for our church, I have a team of 4 people on my committee but that just means we take on more awesome tasks to bring to the people of our branch! Then there’s my decorating, my Christmas shopping, cooking and planning. I’m doing changing rooms again because my boys, daughter in law and granddaughter are all coming home for Christmas then there’s my work…that is taking me places I could only dream of and I’m so very thankful, grateful and humbled by all that I have been blessed with lately. Sadly that doesn’t leave me with much time for the online stuff (other than facebook , which at the moment is my sanity!). ...

Finger food dish

Image
Share this post :     I picked up two rather cute little leaf shaped food dishes for just 50p each. However, I they looked kinda plain as they were so out come the spray paint and off we went: I sprayed the back of each one in metallic silver but I admit that I wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out!   A little less metallic than I would have liked but i still love the effect. Now I have 2 lil silver leaf food dishes just perfect for nuts and stuff!   If you want to play along with another awesome site, just check out Chris’s blog! What’s on your table just now?

The last two weeks…

Image
Share this post : Did you enjoy the last two weeks of awesome posts? I did! I found myself wanting to blog in between to share some thoughts on what I had read but knew that would be cheating {even by my own rules!!} I am so very thankful to each and every person who took the time to write for The British Homemaker and lend me their knowledge, skills and insight to offer the cyber world. I do believe I had an awesome bunch of people here! So what does the next two weeks hold? Well, I am going to be working on getting to Christmas as unscathed as possible. I shall be sharing some gift ideas to make, a quick bedroom makeover and the odd recipe. If you are a crafter/diy’er or enjoy sharing recipes please do share, I will link up to you on the sidebar until 26th December. Sound fun? Course it is! And to make it better, why not grab the badge to say you are taking part? ...

Lego.com

For about a year now Charley has enjoyed playing on the Lego site testing out most of their games, entering competitions and printing off there colouring pages etc. Some days he will get an hour straight after school while I begin dinner. Most days I am running up and down the stairs because he wants to go back a page or something. Tonight, after not hearing him call after about 15 minutes I went up anyway. Yep, he is totally super glued to the screen, he is on the edge of the seat racing against the clock on a game! When I asked him if he needed help with anything, he simply said: No mom! I am 6 and I know what all the buttons do and I know when to use them! Of course, what do mothers know? :D   Debs

Walkin’ in the rain

Image
I couldn’t help but sing the old Modern Romance song as the kids and I walked through the woods on Friday looking for the right kind of foliage for some of our Christmas Decorations. Remember that song? Back in the 80’s? Sweet! Yep, that’s my daughter in 3/4 trousers and Uggs!   The boy loves orange. EVERYTHING is orange! Boo! We walked a long way. 200 yards into it the heavens opened. Big Time! So we took cover! Charley wanted to wait for the deer to come out but erm, I wasn’t waiting till it was pitch black. Sorry son! But this tree amused him. And me. Cute eh? We’ve called him Bert. We had a super couple of hours out, rain and wind didn’t spoil it either. The dog looked like a lil rat, my hair hung like I’d just got out the shower and lets not mention my jeans that wouldn’t come off (when I got home) cos they were stuck to me so much! The goodies we came back with will be magically transformed and shared over on The British Homemaker’s Dairy soon as I hav...

The Greatest Career in the World by Tristi Pinkston

Share this post : The first time I wandered onto this blog, my eye immediately fell on these words in the centre column: “It's surprising how many people (not just women) forget just how important that institute really is and place values in areas that ends up making their homes feel like the ball and chain...familiar?” Oh, yes, it’s familiar. It’s all too familiar. I’m a published author, and I’m also a speaker, teacher, editor, mentor … I spend a lot of time teaching writers how to write, how to promote, and how to find the very best within themselves. I’m a stay-at-home mom and do most of my work online, via the amazing and wonderful Internet, but I do leave home and attend conferences and workshops. I spend time talking with other adults (wow!) and when I come home, I’m usually full of the adrenaline that comes from like-minded people talking about things they love. ...
