I am looking for a workable pattern for a Victorian dress. I don’t mind if its a traditional or modern style but it does need to be that era. I need to have it made and perfected by 13th November!
I am going to a Single Adults event that is themed around the Victorian times and this is the only thorn in my side (yet) and it’s time to get a skadoodle on with it.
I am asking for ideas, perhaps suggested sites/blogs? I haven’t bought the fabric yet so the whole floor is open to ideas.
Also…
You thought it was that easy didn’t ya? :P
I am going to a Black and White Ball too. Now the clues are in the title there but I am out of ideas. For this event I want something elegant, modest and stylish. I love lace so maybe something along those lines? I don’t mind making something or buying it…oh and I’m going to need accessories too. I’m going all out for this one!! :)
So, what ideas do you have?
Please share? Do I need to beg? Ok ok I’ll stop lowering myself!! :P lol

Just thinking .... I know you like to be different so on researching the Victorian era .... I find it is 1837 - 1901. Being an avid fan of Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman I recall an episode where she came to England because her father (or mother) was ill and the difference in culture and dress was quite astounding. Anyway, I digress, I was thinking you could go as a Pioneer woman visiting the UK in Victorian times (and another thing the poorer element of society in Victorian times wore outfits not dissimilar to that of the women of the Church back then) ... I mean who says you have to be a member of High Society in Victorian times, eh .... you should make a stand for us working class folk!! You could even research the beggars of Victorian times of which, unfortunately, there were many :(
Now onto the black and white theme ... and showing my age here .... I recall an early appearance of either Cilla Black or Lulu, cant quite remember which, where they wore a simple black and white checked mini dress (60's style) ... I realise you would need to adapt the "mini" bit of it, but I am sure you could come up with something. Another thought ... how about adapting the tuxedo outfit and making a dress with a tux effect top and a long skirt bottom and doing something with the top hat to effeminate it (is that a word???).
I am full of weird ideas today!!!
