5 ways to teach your child at home

Image
Over the last few weeks I have had the opportunity to see what it was that my kids and I actually do when we spend time together. Though we haven’t done any baking or crafts together we do tend to watch a programme and either assassinate it or relate it to our lives for a while after its finished. Kirsten and I have had some great conversations from this which we probably wouldn’t have had otherwise. Charley chimes in with his thoughts and opinions which, in all truthfulness are rather old for his age and I see how much influence is around him {especially when he relates a commercial that he thinks I simply need to make use of!}. I decided to share the 5 things we do particularly that keep us together as a family that very often we either take for granted or do from habit, but they still work. Family meals ~ you can  never beat the banter around the dinner table and its amazing how the kids will eat more when they aren’t thinking about it. Time out ~ this is often just us loungin...

Chedder gorge

Image
We took off for a few hours last Thursday to the Cheddar Gorge …I was sure I’d see this lil shop there…. ….Christmas in June! How awesome eh? Well the other half of the shop is a little like this… …and guess who is going to be having her handmade goodies stocked there in due course? Yep, The British Homemaker !! This was pointed out to me as: P{ee} up the hill…geddit? Oh I chuckled!! The kid just cannot help himself when he sees a camera! He posed rather too happily for a good few minutes before he was ready to move on! Although it started drizzling it was still a lovely mild day, especially for ice cream, coca cola and a stroll What is your favourite day out? Have you been to the Cheddar Gorge? What did ye make of it? Debs

A new life

Image
The last time I posted here I was in the middle of moving house. This time I post and I’m living with my mom! So what’s the deal? It hasn’t been an easy few weeks but it is by far the worst too. The day I moved from the house the one I thought I was moving to fell through. That left us, once again wondering where we were going to drive off to once we were in the car! De je Vous? For sure! Thankfully my mom came to the rescue and invited us to stay with her till I secured something else. I also hit other obstacles, the kids school, my work and the group I was involved with for the course I’ve not long graduated with. What I didn’t know is how much my life was about to change. For the next three weeks I found that I was kind of lost. So many hours to fill and nothing to fill them with. I helped with the housework, I read, I set my computer up, I read the scriptures but it was very unnerving for me to not have school runs, my own routine, some privacy and toys all over the place...
