This house move has become a nightmare. Last week I went on complete emotional meltdown and all but give up on the whole deal. I haven’t cried so much in years, as one door closed two more slammed. By Sunday I had lost all hope that God even knew I existed, much less cared so I went into church after sacrament to speak to my branch president. For me to miss church there has to be a good reason, this week, I just couldn’t feel it. {I also had ear-ache through the night but it wouldn’t have stopped me going if I could just get my mind/heart in some hopeful place}. Three hours later I walked out of his office feeling worse than before but more in control of myself. I say worse because while I was in there many things were covered that I hadn’t mentally processed. It’s always good to have another persons opinion. Later that afternoon I sent a message to my two fellow admin on my Facebook group offering to resign from my status. Long shot of it was, Alex called me to cheer me on and gen...
My name is pride

My name is Pride. I am a cheater. I cheat you of your God-given destiny...because you demand your own way. I cheat you of contentment...because you "deserve better than this." I cheat you of knowledge...because you already know it all. I cheat you of healing...because you're too full of me to forgive. I cheat you of holiness...because you refuse to admit when you're wrong. I cheat you of vision...because you'd rather look in the mirror than out a window. I cheat you of a genuine friendship...because nobody's going to know the real you. I cheat you of love...because real romance demands sacrifice. I cheat you of greatness in heaven...because you refuse to wash another's feet on earth. I cheat you of God's glory...because I convince you to seek your own. My name is Pride. I am a cheater. You like me because you think I'm always looking out for you. Untrue. I'm looking to make a fool of you. God has so much...
6 Quick tips when decluttering/moving home

I am a firm believer that we each adopt our own habits and styles when decluttering a room and/or moving home. My style is one room at a time till there is nothing left to be done in there till move day. However, by doing this I have hit a few irritating things I do and I now urge you to overcome any frustration by using these tips: Don’t bother with marker pens. I have lost 4 in an hour. Only me in the room. I haven’t left the room. I am not wearing pockets. I can’t find them anywhere ! So I came up with another idea which is probably quicker in the long run. Print off a sheet of labels for each room, stick them through your creatopia then cut them to size and bingo, you are set to go. Reinforce the bottom of your boxes before you pack. Just don’t ask! Where possible lay 4/6 books flat on the bottom of each box, this will spread out the weight of the books and provide a stable ‘nest’ when adding other things. Don’t be afraid to use small boxes. Yes it may t...
moving

There are 3 things I particularly hate in life: 1. Ironing 2. Cutting grass 3. Moving house However, I make peace with the first two every now and again by promising myself a reward. Moving house, however is not that easy. There’s always a lull before the storm no matter how organised I think I am. My lull either isn’t here yet or it’s in the hands of my Heavenly Father because this time round I am totally relaxed about the prospect of packing up this house, all 11 rooms and a garage that hides a bazillion boxes of junk. In fact, the more I think about moving the more excited I feel. I have the whole project planned out to the finest detail, I have offers of help for packing, meals, moving, unpacking, more meals and even a ‘get out of jail free’ card (girls movie night out) to recharge before the unpacking starts again. Based on the other 676 thousand times I’ve moved house I am determined this time is going to be different (yep, I’ve said that about 675 times before!) beca...
Graduation

Yesterday was the Dean Entrepreneurs graduation. We were all nervous and excited at the same time. We have worked hard on this course, we’ve all followed a journey that, at times frustrated the heck out of us. As a group of about 18 we have become friends, a family even and we have supported one another in a range of different ways. For me this course has not only allowed me to broaden my business scope, not only make friends but it has given me the confidence in myself to actually make something of The British Homemaker . Working on the many parts of setting up a business that works has been challenging, tiring and at times difficult but it was never an option to quit. Not this time. The group presentation was filled with pride, seeing how far each of us had come, how we’d managed to pull off all we’d worked for and then present our businesses to the standard we were finally happy with. A couple of us are already trading, some are about to begin trading but I believe that by the end...
St Patricks day

Just to set the record straight: It is not, it has never been and it never will be St Patty’s Day! It is, it has always been and it will always be St Patricks Day or for short St Paddy’s Day. Getting it wrong offends MANY Irish people. MANY ! So now you know! Moving on, we aren’t doing anything to celebrate it this year but my new, dyed living room curtains are almost the perfect colour for me to get away with incorporating it into our day! Debs
