Organising

Organisation, doesn't that sound like a dirty word? Or is it music to your ears?

For years I would just box things in themes, stores them in relative rooms and consider it done.

However, over time I have learnt that there is much more to organising than that. There is much more to storage than just something stuck inside something. I think, when I look back, it was when I began designing scrapbook/journalling projects that I really found organisation of a different kind. Oh yah, my home was organised, but even that took a different twist after I found ways to organise my work area which held so much and so many small pieces and tools that I needed.

Given this diary is still in progress, I will be adding a whole host of ways to get every part of our homes organised over the coming weeks and months. I will try to make them as painless as possible with printable sheets that you can either use as notes or pre-lists that you can tick off as you go.

So, if you want to share any of your storage and organisation with me I would love to hear from you. Email me at thebritishhomemaker at gmail.com

When I was homeless for 8 months in 2010 we (the kids and I) moved into a temporary accommodation flat...having no money, nothing to put in the place and only imagination I came up with a free, space saving (the kitchen was tiny) idea to store some bits that I'd been given....

The bottles were just coloured water....jazzed up the window sill, right?  The tub on the right is a cleaned out KFC bucket! Lol
Cleaned out food tins are ideal for straws, cutlery, utensils and odd change.
