What’s your favourite Christmas Hymn?

I love the hymns we have available to us, I love to flick through the book and sing away {did I already mention that I am tone deaf and can’t sing for toffee?}.

This time of the year I find I listen to them more, I make up my own cd and play it till its worn out, my kids are not always amused either because it takes away their choice of what goes in their ears but they end up singing or humming along, win-win I say!

This year I find myself  humming this one below, I don’t know all the words but I’m pretty sure I will by the end of the year!

1. Joy to the world, the Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King!
Let ev’ry heart prepare him room,
And Saints and angels sing,
And Saints and angels sing,
And Saints, and Saints and angels sing.

2. Rejoice! Rejoice when Jesus reigns,
And Saints their songs employ,
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

3. No more will sin and sorrow grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He’ll come and make the blessings flow
Far as the curse was found,
Far as the curse was found,
Far as, far as the curse was found.

4. Rejoice! Rejoice in the Most High,
While Israel spreads abroad
Like stars that glitter in the sky,
And ever worship God,
And ever worship God,
And ever, and ever worship God.

Text: Isaac Watts, 1674–1748; alt. by William W. Phelps, 1792–1872. Included in the first LDS hymnbook, 1835. Music: George F. Handel, 1685–1759; arr. by Lowell Mason, 1792–1872

In Alma 5: 50 ~

50 Yea, thus saith the Spirit: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, for the kingdom of heaven is soon at hand; yea, the Son of God cometh in his aglory, in his might, majesty, power, and dominion. Yea, my beloved brethren, I say unto you, that the Spirit saith: Behold the glory of the bKing of all the earth; and also the King of heaven shall very soon shine forth among all the children of men.

Today I feel so much gratitude for the very fact that Jesus Christ came to earth and done all he did. It is because of Him that I have such a blessed life, my children, a home and good health. No-one ever said we should have anything more appropriate than the agency to know and serve Him that was born to teach us. All the imperfections that the world says my life has are being swept aside at this part of my life, I see it, I feel it and I know it, and that leaves way for me to really look at myself and see how and where I can serve others much more than I need to serve myself.

What is your favourite hymn at this time of year and why?
